Monthly Meeting Minutes :: March

Meeting called at 7:15

Minutes from February meeting read

Motion to approve reading of minutes:

Richard Darnell

Paul Becker (2nd)

Richard Darnell went over the results from Meridian.

Competition Report: (Dale Lambert)

The Memphis region is willing to work with our region. They would like to put on an event similar to the Dogwood Grand Prix in Knoxville.

New Business

Report on New Track: (Paul Becker)

They need workers for the NASCAR Bush Series Race in April. They will pay volunteers $7 an hour. Jobs include workers for the information booths, pit tours, hospitality, etc., and all money earned goes to the club. All workers must be present all day Friday and Saturday for orientation.

We also need to provide workers for the Mini Grand-Prix in Bowling Green and the Alfa Club race.

According to Richard Darnell, NASA Pro has invited us to dual host 4 events at the new track and calling them "High-Speed Time Trials." The rules are less stringent than they are under SCCA. His suggestion is that we participate under Solo I SCCA rules without the cost of renting the track at $5000 a day.

Web Page:

The club purchased the name trscca.com, and a separate web page is being formed. The thought is to move away from trscca.org and make the site more up-to-date. Ryan Hulbert motioned to not send out as many bucket seats (the club can save up to $700 each time) and make the site function as an interactive newsletter. Dan Chadwick 2nded this motion. This brought up the problem of getting in touch with members who do not attend meetings. Jason Morris motioned for the club to send out a postcard to all members with email address information. This was 2nded by Richard Darnell.

A website committee was formed that includes Trey Commander, Dan Chadwick, Eric Waterman, David Wells, Wendell Van Sickle, and Paul Becker.

Steve Bunce motioned for the club to reimburse David Wells for costs incurred in working on the website. This motion was 2nded by Dale Lambert.

Carparts.com offered SCCA members a 10% discount and a 10% kickback of club member sales to the club if we give them a plug on our new site. Fasil Petro motioned for the club to investigate and Richard Darnell 2nded this motion.

Dale Lambert brought up the idea of buying a trailer for the club, so that whoever drives the bus to the event can also bring their own car. This idea was nipped because either Steve or Wendell will drive the bus, and both have trailers.

Steve Bunce brought up the fact that the club has no insurance on the bus. His idea was that the club purchase minimum liability insurance to protect the driver. According to Richard Darnell, a policy with $1 million liability is ideal. Steve motioned for the club to investigate, and Richard 2nded.

International Cherokee Trails Rally (SCCA event) needs workers March 17 and 18.

Class Discussion:

SCCA introduced 3 new classes. Wendell opposes doing away with the OSF and OSR classes. Jason Morris proposes keeping OSF and OSR and adding 3 new classes to our region for those who want to run in those classes in nationals. Ryan Hulbert motioned to keep OSF and OSR, and this motion was 2nded by Wendell Van Sickle.

Ryan Hulbert motioned to score Divisional events the same as August Heat, and this was 2nded by Dan Chadwick.

(No Old Business except brief talk about the generator).

Motion to adjourn by Paul Becker at 8:45, which was 2nded by Jason Morris.
